Therapist, MSW, LICSW

You may be here because you feel overwhelmed, unhappy, lost, or alone. Nonetheless, you got yourself here. That’s an accomplishment! You are already moving in the right direction. As a therapist, my job is to help you keep moving in that direction and to be your ally. Whatever brought you here, whatever you are seeking, you don’t have to do it alone.

I am a strengths-based therapist, meaning I see you as the expert in your own life. Whereas some therapy might feel problem-focused and heavy, I am committed to reminding folks of all the strengths they possess, even as they identify their struggles.

I am passionate about healthy relationships, both romantic and non-romantic. Having worked as a sex educator for years, I specialize in issues related to sexuality and relationships, from anxiety about dating, to couples’ therapy, to gender and sexual identity issues. I have experience with LGBTQ+, kink, and nonmonogamy communities. I am affirming of all genders and all relationship types. I also have extensive experience working with victim/survivors of sexual violence.

In addition to sexuality and relationships, my clinical interests include but are not limited to depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, and social skills. Some theories and techniques I often lean on include mindfulness-based practices, experiential and existential therapies, and systems and attachment theories. As a couple’s therapist, I gravitate toward emotion focused therapy.

As a social worker, I consider issues of power, privilege, and marginalization in my work. With case management and advocacy experience, I recognize that there are significant structural and societal factors that cannot be isolated from individual mental health. I strive to make therapy a safe place to explore barriers both internal and external to the kind of meaning you are seeking.
